A little more about me:
I am married with three adult sons who live in Darwin and Sydney.
I am involved with North West Disability Services and am currently Chairman of the Board having completed a year as Treasurer last year. I am motivated to make this contribution by the outstanding contribution made by the over 160 amazing staff, the more than 140 wonderful volunteers who support the over 500 people we care for allowing respite to their 2000 family members in North Western Sydney. I have learned and benefited so much from this close and personal exposure to a not for profit provider in our community that I can assure you I am the main beneficiary of the time I commit.
With my wife Sally, we are also active supporters of Aaron’s Wish. Aaron’s Wish is a private charity dedicated to raising funds specifically for brain cancer research in Australia. Aaron’s Wish is in memory of Aaron Iori who was lost to brain cancer in 2013 leaving behind a wife and three young children. The three annual black tie dinners held to date have raised in excess of $120,000 for this horribly underfunded research.
I have been a member of Toastmasters International since 1997. In this I have achieved success at the highest level of competition in my District (New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory) in addition to earning the recognition of Advance Communicator Gold and Competent Leader. This has resulted in my being Master of Ceremonies for a number of commercial and not for profit functions.
I am an arm chair sailor and a terrible golfer.
